Standing Egg have brought back light indie pop rock back into my mind. Their 2012 album, Like, is full of lightly distorted guitar following behind melodic vocals.

Listening to Like, you’re going to hear well constructed, but very commercially viable songs. The songs are very radio-friendly focusing on an acoustic sound with their songs.

But Standing Egg do play some other styles on Like. “Stay Away (With 예슬)” is a lounge jazz song. Overall though you’re going to be listening to a very directed sound on the album. The problem with Like is that each song has the same presence and there isn’t a standout track that really makes the album worth listening to.

I would have to say that Standing Egg made a very safe album combining indie, pop, and commercial sounds together.
