It’s strange to listen to Mang Gak Hwa because at the start of 몹시 용기를 내어, it sounds like an older acoustic Radiohead. The songs then move into an slower, melodic rock tone that focuses a lot on the vocals. On some songs, the vocals actually sound very forced and uneasy, but the a comfort starts to appear halfway through.

It sounds like Mang Gak Hwa are sitting in between indie rock and ballad rock with how some of the songs are arranged. While vocals are an important part of songs, there is a definite focus on them over the music.

The music of Mang Gak Hwa is interesting. It will definitely speak to ballad rock fans because the melodies are excellent, but there’s not a lot of energy with the slower tempos and that breaks the enjoyment.
