e.via was first introduced as a female Outsider with the similar ability to produce verses with an incredible speed. The EP, e.via a.k.a. happy e.vil, first met with some controversy with the song “오빠! 나 해도돼” and some content that was said to be too adult for younger audiences.

The EP though presents a pop and hip-hop style that is different from the urban and popular hip-hop styles that live in the genre. e.via is able to move from styles with her clean delivery and even align her songs with the various guests on the EP like Sori and Vasco. The interesting thing with the release is that it is almost two version of the same EP with multiple versions of the same song.

The end result is an interesting debut release from a female rapper who sounds like she is forging her own style in the midst of the entertainment industry. While her later releases seem more commercial, e.via a.k.a. happy e.vil is always a fun listen because it still sounds current. Even though she hasn’t reached the same level of respect I have for Rimi, she is one of the better female hip-hop artists.
