이미지, also going as Image meets sound according to Facebook, released her second EP, Things That Attract Us. Besides being insanely difficult to find cover art online, the EP is a great set of electronica-backed and indie pop songs. It depends on the song, but she moves between the two genres seamlessly.

“Things That Attract Us” is the introduction track featuring Image‘s vocals post-processed on certain verses and backed by an electronica and synth arrangement. That changes with “Hug Me” which sounds like a more customary indie pop song backed with guitar, drums, and keyboards. There are accents from samples added on top of the music, but they serve more to add dimension to the songs. While the EP has nine songs, there are four original tracks, with an English version of “Hug Me” and four instrumental tracks.

It’s easy to get drawn into Image’s voice because it sits in a mid-level melody without needing to grab high octaves. It’s calm and a perfect fit with these songs. The mixture of the songs using synth and some live samples keeps the music fresh. It’s sometimes difficult to tell on first listen if the song is entirely created through beats and samples like on “Everything is Falling Down,” but at the end it doesn’t really matter.

Things That Attract Us may be short on songs and buffered by instrumentals, but the songs are good. She has a great voice that accompanies each beat really well. The instrumental tracks are interesting to listen to because without her voice they sound a bit different without her voice to complete the message. Image’s release is perfect for electronica and indie pop fans.
