I listened to TV Yellow a long time ago. Considering Strange Ears released in 2010, it’s been a long time since I heard the album again. It’s a mixture of electronic and rock, but still difficult to accurately describe. In the sense of electronic rock is expanding with a lot more bands, coming from 2010, it reminds me of early HEO.

The album is focused a lot more on melody through guitar and vocals. The electronic loops add an extra layer to the music, but don’t overshadow the verse. The album does show it’s age sounding a bit simpler that more recent albums. But at the same time, there’s also a timeless nature to Strange Ears. It doesn’t really sound out of place in 2014 considering it released in 2010.

The music also has a similar feeling to HEO’s recent album as well. It’s unknown if TV Yellow will release more music in the future, but it would be interesting to hear how to band sounds year later from this album. You can actually hear a lot of TV Yellow in recent bands, whether they directly influenced these bands is unknown but the style is definitely fun to hear. As an older album, it’s a great way to hear what kind of music was being created at a specific time.

TV Yellow may not have been the first band that used electronic loops in their music, but they have included it in their music very well. The album is perfect for those lazy days or if you’re on the subway. Hopefully the band will get back together and create more music in the near future.
