Doorlesshouse : MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.2

The last time I had a deep listen to Doorlesshouse was 2020’s Bright Future. I went back to the EP to remind myself of what the band sounded like six years ago. MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.2 comes eight months after MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.1 and is my return to this band. Since 2020, Doorlesshouse has consistently released music except in 2024. So, how is it coming back to this band?

It’s likely I’ll need to listen to MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.1 at some point. But the start of MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.2 sets up an album that’s going in many different directions. “Attacker” has a coda to start the song before it explodes into rock music. The low ends are pushed hard here and 손효진‘s vocals are the guide through the ups and downs.

Doorlesshouse describe themselves as “a genre-bending group driven by imagination. Their music drifts between funk, indie pop, and dream pop.” This is the most accurate description I’ve ever read for music that goes through the process integrating so many ideas. “Baby” is similar to “Attacker,” but it’s also a beast of its own. It reminds me of Goonamguayeoridingstella‘s energy and free-formed melodies.

But then “Reversion” shoots into an entirely different direction. I’m honestly surprised how much Doorlesshouse can contain this melodic chaos. To me, it throws out standard conventions and lets ideas flow and expand. And the amazing thing is that you’re only on track three of 10.

MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.2 has a wandering core that moves with each song. “Fix It” is a “standard” rock song with an eclectic psychedelic energy. “MIRAE Pt.1” is a mid-album Beatles-style-era rock track. I don’t know how the band made these songs. They’re too good.

Then Doorlesshouse randomly adds a synth-pop on “Pieces.” And it shouldn’t fit MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.2 when you consider the songs before it, but it’s totally fine. What “Pieces” does it set up the end of the album. The last songs are a break from the hysterical energy. I think it’s also a way for the band not to burn themselves out.

It creates a natural split, which then makes me think that MIRAE COMPLEX Pt.2 is two EPs merged. It works well as a cohesive album but I can see some people favoring the first half’s energy. Doorlesshouse has an insanely good album. They have captured frenetic energy and diffused it into one of the most interesting albums I’ve heard in a long time. One of the best of 2026.
