LivIgesh is a prolific artist, releasing what feels like an album a month. Pika‘s last release was a 2024 EP. And Yes, But Consider Toast‘s history goes back to 2019 according to Bandcamp. Livigesh wrote, arranged, and produced all the tracks with RAINBOW99 contributing guitars and Pat Tuman adding live drums. It sounds like the album was completed with Pika through weekly meetings and finalized in 2024.

That retelling could be incorrect, but what came out is Computer Blue. And while the Computer Blue’s core is Pika and Livigesh, you can’t discount RAINBOW99’s and Pat Tuman’s contributions. When I first heard “Alone,” it felt like the music leaned more towards Pika’s audioscape. If you heard Pika’s Metamorphosis, “Alone” sounds like an extension.

And I don’t think there’s a 50/50 split between Livigesh and Pika. And that’s why Yes, But Consider Toast works so well. The organic movement between styles lifts the music. The music is tagged as alternative and at a high level, this is very accurate. It’s also mixing pop, electronic ideas, and dream pop inside this mixture.

Bandcamp says “Pika layered n vocals and lyrics, shaping the mood, tilting the edges.” I think this is very true. Songs aren’t Livigesh instrumentals mixed with Pika vocals. This album is molded and crafted with two voices manipulating compositions. It would actually be interesting to hear the unfinished pre-Pika songs to hear how they matured.

Yes, But Consider Toast was consistent background music while I worked. Not because it’s simple to ignore, but the album energy actually helped me concentrate. “Somewhere in Between” has a synth line that’s always moving underneath Pika’s vocals, and that kept me locked in on work.

This album is a hidden treasure. It doesn’t ask anything from you as a reader. Yes, But Consider Toast is a presentation of a collaboration that resulted in a free-flowing audio experience. Computer Blue has a timeless album that will find its audience.
