Azikazin Magic World : Memory Overdrive

I found out about Azikazin Magic World through Lionclad. The five member collective includes “Lionclad, art director and beatmaker Lionclad, singer-songwriter and music producer Moogia, 3DCG artist Lee Sung-moon, creative director Song Kiho, and art director Park Soo-min.” Essentially, this group is able to create all the visuals and audio from start to finish.

Memory Overdrive is the collective’s first full length, but that comes after two EPs and multiple singles. And with Azikazin Magic World presenting their music as a full audio-visual experience, it’s worth watching their music videos. The electronic music is familiar but different. It’s not club music or heavy synth, it’s more like the combination of Lionclad and Moogia created an offshoot of electronic game music, electro R&B, and electronic pop. It’s just so smooth.

The 13 songs give you almost 36 minutes of music and every moment you’re drawn in to this world Azikazin Magic World creates. Every moment feels organic. “Shining Portal” sounds like R&B mixed with chiptune with an intelligent balance and conversation happening across each verse.

And then “FATAL FANTASY” downplays some of the more frantic rhythms with a smoother electronic presentation that still harnesses the core of Azikazin Magic World. You get lost very quickly and enjoy being swept up in these currents. Even though “Shining Portal” is the lead single, I recommend “END!” The track is an easy way to envelope yourself.

But the best way to listen to Azikazin Magic World is the start from the first song and work your way through this audioscape. And I think one of Azikazin Magic World’s best talents is the music doesn’t overwhelm or create any friction. From the first song to “S.a.v..d.a.t.a.” everything feels welcoming, even when introductions start harder than expected like on “Wisung.”

You can’t just listen to Azikazin Magic World, you need to experience the entire audio-visual presentation. Memory Overdrive could hide under the surface, but when audiences find it, it’ll go really far.
