Point and Click Adventure 1080 : Point and Click Adventure

It’s taken some time, but I’m coming back to Point and Click Adventure 1080. Point and Click Adventure is a 10-song album presenting a different electronic music experience.

And inside the electronic music genre, you’ll get an almost infinite amount of styles, thoughts, and performances. Sound manipulation is the key to every single electronic music experience and Point and Click Adventure 1080 lives in a mix of styles. His own Spotify states “ambient techno, braindance, and sound collage – blended with the atmosphere of retro games.”

The ambient aspect of Point and Click Adventure 1080 is what sticks out the most for me. “Memory stone” and “Setting Your Password” are repetitively mellow yet melodic. They welcome you into this soundscape with ease. With Point and Click Adventure 1080, I don’t think the purpose is creating listener friction. The goal is to pull you deeper into this world.

Even the song titles call out to video games with “Skyward Sword” being an obvious one. I’m not a huge Legend of Zelda player so I’m not sure how much it connects to the series. Though “Release Ceremony” reminds me of the big set piece FMV videos after a huge battle or world expansion.

I would consider Point and Click Adventure as a set of tracks for different games in a compilation album. While each song doesn’t directly connect with a core narrative, stylistically each song connects through the chosen composition. Though I kind of wish there were a few faster tempo songs. All songs sound like they’re perfect for an adventure game, but it does feel like battle music tracks are here. The majority of the songs feel like overworld or traversal audio.

It’s not until “Over.D Quest Part 1” and “Over.D Quest Part 2” that the energy has a spike. And these are the last two songs. It’s a fu way to close, but it’s a lot of time waiting for these tracks.

Electronic music always has something interesting and Point and Click Adventure 1080 is not different. As a solo project from a Leto member, it can feel like a side quest, but there’s a lot of space to build Point and Click Adventure 1080’s world.
